Putin not to attend COP 29 in Baku
Russian President Vladimir Putin will not travel to Baku to attend the COP29 U.N. conference, to be held in November, an Azerbaijani government source told the BBC.
Russia will attend the event “at the level of the prime minister,” the source said, confirming that the president of Russia had been sent an invitation together with the leaders of other countries.
Earlier, Vsevolod Chentsov, head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, said that the international community should avoid participating in the Baku climate conference if the Russian president also attends it. Spokesperson for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov had said, in turn, that the decision on Putin’s participation has not yet been finally made.
