Protesters have broken down the gates of the Parliament building and broke into the vicinity of the presidential residence in Abkhazia. The interior minister and the head of Abkhazia’s State Security Service have engaged in negotiations with the demonstrators.
The protests began several days ago, following a parliamentary session on the ratification of a Russian-Abkhazian agreement regarding investment activities.
Security forces have used tear gas, and eight individuals have been hospitalized as a result of the clashes.
