Clashes in Georgia with police using special measures
Mass protests took place in Tbilisi on Thursday evening, following the country’s prime minister’s statement about withdrawing from European integration.
The protest taking place outside the Georgian Parliament has deviated from the norms established by the law on rallies and demonstrations, the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
The ministry described the protesters’ actions as something against the law.
Despite calls from law enforcement, protesters are engaging in confrontations and insulting police officers. Additionally, various objects have been thrown at the police, resulting in injuries to 32 officers.
According to Georgian media reports, law enforcement has used water cannons and tear gas; 43 people have been arrested.
