Russian forces evacuate 4,000 Iranian soldiers from Syria at Iranian side’s request of

Russian forces have transported 4,000 Iranian soldiers from the Khmeimim airbase in Syria to Tehran, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“If previously, for instance, our Iranian friends asked us to assist in moving their units into Syrian territory, now they requested us to withdraw 4,000 Iranian soldiers from there,” Putin stated, adding that some of the so-called pro-Iran units have also gone to Lebanon, while others have moved to Iraq.
