Turkish media: Erdoğan will visit Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit Syria leading a large delegation, pro-government Hürriyet newspaper reports. The newspaper did not specify the timeline for the Turkish leader’s visit to Damascus.
“The transitional government in Syria will be formed quickly. Erdoğan will visit Damascus with a large delegation, including ministers responsible for investments,” columnist Abdulkadir Selvi writes.
Erdoğan stated after a government meeting on Monday that Turkey maintains close ties with the new Syrian administration and will provide it with all possible support. He noted that following the visit of National Intelligence Organization Director İbrahim Kalın and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Damascus, the number of visits from Turkey to Syria would increase.
