Iran holding talks to reopen its embassy in Syria
The authorities of Iran are holding talks with the Syrian side on reopening the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Mehr news agency writes, citing Iranian Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani.
“We are conducting diplomatic consultations to reopen the embassy in the country,” Mohajerani noted.
The government spokeswoman also stressed the importance of preventing the “growth and development of terrorism” in Syria in order to ensure the security of both Syria and its neighboring states.
Mohajerani noted that Tehran, as before, insists on “the need to form a Syrian government based on the will of the people and to protect the territorial integrity of Syria.”
