Zakharova: The optimal option would be for Armenia and Azerbaijan to jointly propose disbanding the OSCE Minsk Group

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented at a press briefing on Ilham Aliyev’s statement regarding the need to dissolve the Minsk Group.

“I would like to remind you that the Americans and the French, who co-chair the Minsk Group, have stopped their communication with Russian colleagues since February 2022. With the cessation of communication, with Armenia’s recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as an inseparable part of Azerbaijan during the Prague summit, as well as with the sharp change in the situation on the ground in 2023, the OSCE Minsk Group, which was engaged in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, has lost its relevance. And all of this began with the West blocking the functioning of this format,” Zakharova said, adding that the optimal option would be for Armenia and Azerbaijan to jointly propose disbanding these institutions.
