Gen. Joseph Aoun elected Lebanese president

Gen. Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, has won in the second round of the presidential elections held in the Lebanese parliament, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri said.

“Out of 128 MPs, 99 voted in favor of General Aoun’s candidacy,” Berri stated.

The previous 12 attempts to elect a president in Lebanon had yielded no results.
