Hakan Fidan: We consider Prime Minister Pashinyan’s positive messages to be significant for the establishment of peace
A historic window of opportunities for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity has opened in the South Caucasus, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during a press briefing for representatives of local and international media.
“I believe that Armenia will also act with a long-term strategic perspective. In this regard, we consider Prime Minister Pashinyan’s positive messages to be significant. We note that he expresses a stance in favor of peace and contributes to positive progress in this process,” Fidan stated.
According to him, Turkey continues to facilitate bilateral negotiations between the parties without intermediaries. Fidan noted that the establishment of peace would bring new opportunities that are unprecedented in terms of the region’s development. Ankara believes that Baku and Yerevan will agree on the outstanding points of the peace agreement. The minister added that the unstable situation created in the South Caucasus has not benefited anyone. Fidan stated that several points need to be agreed upon for sustainable peace: “We hope they will also be agreed upon by 2025,” he said.
