Iran’s Foreign Ministry: Security in the South Caucasus should be ensured by regional countries without external interference

Iran’s relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan are important, and the South Caucasus is very significant for us, Ismail Baghaei, Spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said at a press briefing.

“We are utilizing all opportunities and capabilities to maintain security and stability in this region,” Baghaei noted.

He also referred to the recent visits of Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian to Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that they were pre-planned.

“We believe that security in this region should be ensured by the countries of the region without the interference of other countries,” he added.
