Iranian Foreign Ministry։ Sanctions have not become an obstacle for an agreement between Moscow and Tehran

Sanctions have not become an obstacle for the signing of a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Russia and Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said in a press conference.

“Sanctions have never been a barrier to the expansion of relations between states. The signing of the agreement is based on a careful assessment of the demands of the governments and the opportunities available at the bilateral level. What matters is the result; it exists, and one can look at the text to see what is included there,” Baghaei said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries on Jan. 17, following negotiations.
