European Commission: Armenia is moving toward a deeper partnership with the EU

The process of rapprochement with the European Union is gaining momentum; however, Armenia has not yet submitted an official application for membership, the European Commission told Izvestia.

“The ongoing discussions in Armenia demonstrate the EU’s attractiveness and its values. EU-Armenia relations have never been as close as they are now. The launch of the visa liberalization dialogue and the support of €10 million from the European Peace Facility highlighted this,” reads the report.

Brussels has also promised to discuss with Armenian partners the draft law on European integration. Although the issue of EU membership is not legally on the agenda yet, Armenia is already moving toward a deeper partnership with the Union.
