France not planning to purchase American weapons for Ukraine

France has no plans to participate in the initiative of buying U.S. weapons for Kyiv, Paris is instead focused on developing its own military-industrial complex, Politico writes.

The publication pointed out that France was not among the European countries that agreed to purchase weapons for Ukraine, a list provided by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to U.S. President Donald Trump.

The article notes that the Élysée Palace has long been advocating for European countries to develop their own defense industries by purchasing weapons from local manufacturers.

“For this reason, Paris will not join the initiative to buy American weapons,” the agency reports. As previously reported by EADaily, the Czech Republic has also taken a similar stance. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that his country will not be among the countries that buy weapons from the United States for Ukraine.
