Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan made a statement
announcing his decision to end the sit-in. He also evaluated the outcomes of
the protest actions staged last week and referred to future actions.
He stated that due to the efforts they made and the measures
they took, international pressure on Azerbaijan has increased.
Harutyunyan called on the representatives of other states to
follow Armenia’s example and provide Artsakh with humanitarian aid.
“Every instrument, be that political, humanitarian, or
of any other kind, should be put to use in order to increase the pressure to
open the Lachin corridor. In this regard, the authorities of Artsakh consider
all possible scenarios and measures, in order to be able to resort to them when
need arises,” Harutyunyan wrote.
He noted that the sit-in, the nationwide movement and the
rest of the measures have already produced certain results in that they managed
to draw the attention of the international community and prompt them to take
practical steps.
“I have decided to end the sit-in and redouble my
efforts as the holder of the office. Meanwhile, our compatriots continue
holding sit-ins and other actions. As for me, I will have regular meetings with
them so that we can discuss our further actions,” he wrote.
