Trump says US has enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the United States possesses the world’s largest nuclear arsenal — enough to destroy the planet 150 times. He made the remarks in an interview with CBS News.
“Well, we have more nuclear weapons than any other country. Russia is second; China is a distant third, but in five years they’ll catch up… We have enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times. Russia has a lot of nuclear weapons, and China will have a lot too,” Trump said.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of discussions with the leaders of Russia and China regarding denuclearization.
Trump also defended his decision to resume nuclear testing.
“Well, because you have to see how they [the nuclear components] work. You know, you do have to– and the reason I’m saying– testing is because Russia announced that they were gonna be doing a test. If you notice, North Korea’s testing constantly. Other countries are testing. We’re the only country that doesn’t test, and I wanna be– I don’t wanna be the only country that doesn’t test,” Trump said.
