Armenian and Azerbaijani ambassadors in US discuss TRIPP initiative
The ambassadors of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan and Khazar Ibrahim, have taken part in a roundtable discussion dedicated to the “Trump Route” (TRIPP) initiative, the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) has reported.
The event organized by USACC was also attended by the ambassadors of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in Washington, as well as senior US government officials and business representatives.
During the meeting, participants discussed the role of the TRIPP initiative in strengthening regional connectivity and establishing a sustainable US economic presence along the Middle Corridor.
“With the mediation of the US administration, the peace agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in August marked historic progress. TRIPP is a means of ensuring the sustainability of this peace by turning the transit route into a driver of shared prosperity,” said Vinay Chawla, Director of the Office of International Peace Operations at the US State Department and Special Envoy for Peace.
Khazar Ibrahim, in turn, added that the leaders’ summit held in Washington this August played a historic role in advancing the regional peace process: “Azerbaijan has long promoted the principles of connectivity and cooperation, building strong partnerships with Turkey, Georgia, and the countries of Central Asia. Ensuring the success of the TRIPP project as a key component of the Middle Corridor is essential.”
The Armenian ambassador stated that the TRIPP initiative will bring tangible benefits to the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and other regions.
“I welcome constructive cooperation with our Azerbaijani partners and the fact that the discussions are moving toward concrete development projects. Such practical cooperation is important for achieving tangible economic and social results,” he added.
