Iran’s ambassador reports police beheadings and burnings, says militants were trained and sent into Iran

Anti-government protests in Iran, triggered by the sharp depreciation of the national currency, reached a turning point on Jan. 9–10, Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami said at a press conference.

According to the ambassador, it became clear during those days that a movement was underway aimed at replicating in Iran what had previously occurred in Syria.

“We recorded four cases in which police officers were beheaded. There were also incidents in which police officers were burned alive, as well as shootings,” Shirgholami said.

He noted that certain Israeli officials, as well as former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had publicly stated that Mossad operatives were present on the streets of Iran.

“It became clear that these were not merely rumors. As a result of these developments, both law enforcement officers and peaceful civilians were killed, as were members of the terrorist group itself — individuals who had been trained and sent into Iran,” the ambassador said.
