India agrees to halt Russian oil purchases, Trump says

Indian PM Narendra Modi has agreed to stop purchasing Russian oil and instead source fuel from the United States, and possibly Venezuela, US President Donald Trump said following a phone call with the Indian leader.

“We spoke about many things, including Trade, and ending the War with Russia and Ukraine. He agreed to stop buying Russian Oil, and to buy much more from the United States and, potentially, Venezuela,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

According to the US president, this move is expected to help bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
