Peskov says Armenia and Azerbaijan have full rights to build relations with any country, including US
Armenia and Azerbaijan are sovereign states, and therefore have full rights to establish relations with any country, including the United States, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on US Vice President JD Vance’s visit to the South Caucasus.
“These are sovereign states, and they have the sovereign right to build their relationships with different countries,” the Kremlin spokesperson stated.
He added that Russia maintains beneficial cooperation with both Armenia and Azerbaijan across nearly all sectors, and Moscow intends to continue this. “This includes mutually advantageous trade and economic cooperation, reciprocal investments, and cultural relations. And, of course, we intend to develop these relations with our partners in a way that benefits not only us but also them,” Peskov said.
Vance’s visit to the South Caucasus concludes today. On behalf of the United States, he signed a strategic partnership charter with Azerbaijan. In Armenia, he completed negotiations on cooperation in nuclear energy and the construction of data centers.
