Trump says Iran’s leadership wants to restart talks
In a phone call with a The Atlantic reporter, US President Donald Trump said that Iran’s leadership has indicated a willingness to restart negotiations, and he has agreed to engage in dialogue.
He noted that the talks could take place soon but did not provide a specific timeline, adding that some Iranian officials who participated in previous discussions are no longer involved.
“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner,” Trump said.
