Erdogan: Türkiye is committed to making every possible contribution to lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) should step up its efforts to help resolve the conflict in Palestine, TASS reports.

“As Turkic states, I believe we must make greater efforts to achieve a just solution to the Palestinian issue, which remains an open wound for us. This includes delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and providing the necessary support to ensure that reconstruction efforts begin as soon as possible. We must continue to support the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” Erdogan said at the opening of the OTS summit in Ankara.

Speaking about the situation in the South Caucasus, the Turkish leader said that he supported the contacts between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“We reaffirm our commitment to making every possible contribution to achieving lasting peace. From conflict in our region benefits neither side and has serious consequences for the global economy, trade and energy markets,” he said.

Erdogan also expressed hope that the recent escalation of tensions surrounding Iran would be resolved through diplomacy rather than military means.
