CSTO Secretary General: Armenia is not engaged in the activities, but we have not received a note regarding the suspension of CSTO membership
CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said that recently Armenia has not been engaged in the activities of the organization, but it has not sent any notice about its exit, Kommersant writes.
“Yerevan has really not been engaged in the CSTO works recently. With regard to the said statements of the RA officials, I would like to say that the secretariat has not received an official note from Yerevan regarding the suspension of CSTO membership,” he said, adding that the secretariat regularly informs the relevant agencies in Yerevan about the decisions taken and to be taken.
At the same time, the CSTO Secretary General did not rule out the possibility that new countries may join the organization. According to Tasmagambetov, the CSTO offers rather favorable conditions for membership, including its policy of prioritizing political and diplomatic methods of addressing crisis situations.
