Ask our 96-year-old granny which world center she is in the pay of: Abraham Gasparyan on official agitprop
The official agitprop has been carrying out a clearly targeted policy against the movement in Kirants. With regard to the behavior of the authorities in recent days, Director of Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor Abraham Gasparyan, who has joined the struggle in Tavush, answered journalists’ questions at the media center founded in Kirants by Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation.
“It is more than clear that the authorities are trying to devalue this struggle, and in that process, the most vulnerable narrative that they construct is giving this movement a geopolitical nature,” Gasparyan said.
According to him, the law enforcement system is trying to play a disruptive role between people and the state, but the people who have joined the struggle do not give in to provocations.
“In the past few days, the law enforcement officers demonstratively tried to use force, to instill fear, but thanks to Archbishop Bagrat and our friends, we managed to ease tensions and not give in to provocations,” Gasparyan noted.
He also talked about the claims spread by government circles that the protesters in Kirants are financed by some centers.
“Let us now go together to Kirants, Voskepar, Baghanis and ask people in the pay of what geopolitical center they are. Ask our 96-year-old granny which world center she is in the pay of—the very granny who is here with her cane in her hand and is fighting to defend her homeland,” he said.
According to Gasparyan, “the war has moved to the realm of the Internet, and here the mission of our watchful colleagues, nationally-oriented media, is not to become a tool in the hands of government propaganda mirroring their lies, but to simply come here, see what is going on on the ground, and present the situation as it is”.
