Russian media: The protests in Armenia are a serious challenge for Pashinyan, whose “courage” lies in making concessions

The protests will not lead to serious destabilization in Armenia, but they are a serious challenge for the team of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian analyst Stanislav Pritchin told TASS. According to him, the protests come as a thorny problem for Pashinyan.

“Domestic politics and society negatively perceive any talk of compromise. Pashinyan will probably go till the end, but he will lose the support of a part of the voters inside the country,” the expert noted.

Pritchin drew attention to the fact that the Armenian opposition forces will try to use this situation for consolidation. Vzglyad, in turn, wrote that the “courage” of Pashinyan’s administration lies in making concessions to Baku to prevent a new war and to avoid the “occupation” of Armenia by Russia. Pashinyan’s propaganda machine promotes the idea that now the “fifth column”, consisting of pro-Russian oppositionists and representatives of the Diaspora, is destabilizing the country with the protests in Tavush. However, as Catholicos Garegin II noted, this is actually “cowardice”, which some take for “courage”.
