Russian President Vladimir Putin relieved Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu of his post, the Russian media reports.
Putin proposed Andrey Belousov’s candidacy for the post.
“The Federation Council accepted the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to appoint Andrey Belousov to the post of minister of defense,” the Federation Council said.
Previously, Belousov, 65, served as Vladimir Putin’s presidential assistant in Economic Affairs, minister of Economic Development of Russia, director of the Department of Economics and Finance in the Russian Prime Minister’s Office, etc.
