Georgian prime minister advises Washington to mind its rhetoric when talking to Tbilisi

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze called on Washington not to threaten Georgia with sanctions. He stated that this rhetoric of the U.S. is counterproductive, Kvira news agency writes.

“We are fully ready to restore relations with the United States. A lot has gone wrong in these relationships over the past three or four years. We expect fair, pragmatic and friendly steps. Instead of blackmail and threats, we should have a healthy conversation,” Kobakhidze said.

The prime minister of Georgia also responded to the advice of the U.S. to prevent China from building a deepwater port in Anaklia.

“In order to strengthen our function in the Middle Corridor, it is important to have maximum cooperation both in the direction of the West and the East. In this regard, the participation of the Chinese company in the development of the Anaklia project is of particular importance. Effective operation of this port will largely depend on Chinese cargoes,” Kobakhidze noted.
