The Central Office of the Czech Republic for Overcoming Crisis Situations, convened by the country’s prime minister Petr Fiala, called on the residents of the republic to be ready for floods, Idnes news agency reports.
“Difficult days are ahead of us,” Fiala said. Citing reports from meteorologists, the prime minister noted that it is necessary to prepare for the possibility of large floods due to the rains that started on Thursday.
The rains are expected to continue until at least Tuesday.
If the situation worsens and the water levels rise sharply, the local authorities will install prefabricated steel mud units on the walls.
