About 100,000 Lebanese and Syrians were forced to move to Syria due to Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon. According to Armenpress, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said.
“The outflow continues. The UNHCR is present at four crossing points alongside local authorities and Syrian Red Crescent to support new arrivals,” U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi wrote on X.
On Sept. 23, Israel launched the Northern Arrows operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The stated goal is to create safe conditions in the northern border regions of the Jewish state, so that tens of thousands of displaced residents can return there.
According to the Lebanese authorities, the number of victims of the Israeli strikes exceeded 1,000; 6,000 people were injured, and around one million people—which is one fifth of the country’s population—were displaced.
The Lebanese government has ordered the country’s customs department to waive customs duties on humanitarian aid entering Lebanon so that it can go directly to the Lebanese authorities.
