Should the U.S. take measures to resume nuclear tests, Russia will immediately give a mirror response. As TASS reports, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said this on RT TV Channel.
“If processes begin—which would mean the U.S. is looking toward the resumption of nuclear tests—Russia will immediately give a mirror response,” the deputy minister noted.
Commenting on Russia’s withdrawal from ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty in November 2023, Ryabkov noted that Moscow’s “patience has run out.”
“We have been waiting for 23 years; the end point has been set. What will come next is an open question. The answer completely depends on the line that the U.S. and its allies will pursue,” the official said.
As Russia’s deputy foreign minister explained, withdrawal from ratification is not equivalent to withdrawal from the treaty.
“We continue to act in accordance with its principles,” he noted.
