U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration is concerned about the threat of unrest in the upcoming presidential election, acknowledging the possibility that it will not take place peacefully, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
“The president and we are all talking about what we saw on Jan 6, 2021; obviously we’re concerned,” he said.
Jean-Pierre added that in the remaining months of Biden’s tenure as U.S. president, he intends to work on “protecting and preserving democracy” until the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election.
