
Earthquake happens in Georgia also felt in Armenia
At 6:09 a.m. local time (at 2:09 a.m. GMT) on July 17, an earthquake, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, happened 30 kilometers south of Georgia’s Gurjaani town, the RA MIA Seismic Protection Territorial Survey says.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers at latitude 41.48° north and at longitude 45.87° east.
In the epicenter, the shock registered a magnitude of 5–6.
The earthquake was felt in Tavush Province and in Vanadzor, Spitak, Alaverdi towns of Lori Province with a magnitude of 3–4, in Gegharkunik Province with a magnitude of 3, in Hrazdan, Charentsavan towns of Kotayk Province with a magnitude of 3, and in Yerevan with a magnitude of 2.
