Member of Parliament: Suren Petrosyan was arrested so that he would be isolated from the events taking place in Tavush
Suren Petrosyan was taken to the detention center in Erebuni by someone, called Hakobyan. The latter is said to be the deputy police chief of Armenia. He ordered that Petrsyan be immediately isolated. MP Taguhi Tovmasyan from the opposing NA With Honor faction said this to ABC media.
“Suren has not done anything illegal. Besides, the police did not make any statement or did not issue a legal demand, so that they could arrest him for a failure to meet it. This was a political order to isolate Suren Petrosyan from society, as one of the leaders of the Tavush struggle,” Tovmasyan said, noting that Petrosyan is in a confident mood.
“The cession of lands will not be forgiven and will not be accepted,” Petrosyan conveyed the message through the MP.
“He asked me to tell the residents of Voskepar not to get sad and not to break. He hopes he will not be detained for long,” Tovmasyan said.
To remind, yesterday in the town of Noyemberyan, the police arrested more than a dozen protesters and released them hours later. Currently, only Suren Petrosyan remains under arrest.
