Wildfires devouring several U.S. cities with casualties and injuries reported
A wildfire that broke out in the U.S. two days ago has reached Hollywood and Studio City. The fire has already claimed at least five lives, according to U.S. media reports.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump described the wildfires in the country as an apocalypse.
Trump blamed California’s governor for the massive fires erupting in the Los Angeles area, asserting that the governor should have ratified a proclamation to divert more water through the state. He stated that this would have prevented the disaster. In dry and windy conditions in Southern California, in addition to the fatalities, many people have been injured. Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated, as nearly 6,400 hectares have burned due to the out-of-control fire in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.
A state of emergency has been declared in California. U.S. President Joe Biden canceled his trip to Rome and the Vatican due to the situation in California.
The wildfires have impacted the homes of several Hollywood celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, and Mandy Moore.
Reports indicate that more than 130,000 people have been evacuated and relocated to safer areas, including hotels, the homes of relatives, or shelters. Efforts to contain or extinguish the fire have been unsuccessful, with thousands of firefighters involved in the firefighting operations.
