At a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of CIS member states, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said the West is trying to disrupt regional stability.
“In order to maintain its hegemonic role, the collective West is attempting to undermine regional stability. For this reason, the expanded BRICS summit in Kazan paid special attention to the issues of peaceful conflict resolution and the formation of a just multipolar world order,” Belousov noted.
According to him, the participants of the meeting will have a “busy agenda concerning multilateral military cooperation among CIS countries.”
“A special focus will be placed on the preparatory work for the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. We all understand how important it is to preserve our common history and prevent its distortion, which will help outline further steps in the field of defense and security,” the Russian defense minister noted.
Participants in the meeting agreed to support the strengthening of stability in the Eurasian region. Attendees included Chief of Azerbaijan’s General Staff Karim Tofig oghlu Valiyev, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, Kazakh Defense Minister Ruslan Jaqsylyqov, Kyrgyz Defense Minister Baktybek Bekbolotov, Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo, Uzbek Defense Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov, and Secretary of the CIS Defense Ministers Council Yury Dashkin.
