US deputy defense secretary: The chaotic situation in Syria may offer the Islamic State the opportunity to find ways to become active again
The chaotic situation in Syria may offer the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group the opportunity to find ways to become active again, Daniel Shapiro, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense, said.
“We know that the chaotic and dynamic circumstances in Syria could provide IS with opportunities to strengthen and plan external operations, and we have to work with partners to continue disrupting their [terrorists] capabilities,” Shapiro said at the Manama Dialogue security conference in the capital of Bahrain.
