
Arsen Harutyunyan wins bronze and Olympic qualification in World Wrestling Championships
Arsen Harutyunyan has gained Armenia’s first qualification
in wrestling for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The 23-year-old wrestler won a bronze medal in the men’s
freestyle 57 kg event in the 2023 World Wrestling Championships, held in
Belgrade, Serbia. The three-time European champion was competing against
Meirambek Kartbay, representing Kazakhstan. Harutyunyan convincingly beat
Kartbay 11:0 ahead of time.
This was Harutyunyan’s third bronze medal in the world
championships and the first bronze in the Olympic weight category.
