No one has the right to lead our people into adventurism in these crucial times for us: Davit Ishkhanyan’s call

Tomorrow, Sept. 9, under the Constitution of the Republic of
Artsakh, the National Assembly will elect the country’s president. In view of
the current difficult situation, we are making this move to be able to rapidly
respond to the serious challenges facing us, to ensure social order and to
effectively meet external challenges. Acting President of Artsakh Davit
Ishkhanyan said this.

According to Ishkhanyan, under the Constitution, the right
and duty to elect the head of the country rests with the Parliament, elected by
the people of Artsakh.

“In view of the recent negative elements in public
sentiments, I call on everybody not to respond to the acts of provocation,
aimed at causing a rift among people, not to act in narrow sectional interests
and to put aside personal preferences for the sake of common interests. No one
has the right to lead our people and its separate segments into adventurism in
these crucial times for us. We have every opportunity to thwart Azerbaijan’s
plans of dissolving the state agencies of the Republic of Artsakh, and we
should in no way help Azerbaijan in its unlawful plans.

We are committed to protecting and strengthening the
foundations of the statehood achieved due to our three-decade work. This is
what our people want, and we are obliged to move forward having this idea in
our minds,” reads the statement.
