Germany raises ties with Ukraine to strategic partnership level

During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Germany, Germany and Ukraine signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of defense.

“We are elevating our bilateral relations with Ukraine to the level of a strategic partnership,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said.

He also noted that Germany and Ukraine will work together to limit the number of Ukrainian men seeking asylum in Germany, stressing that it is important for “these men to be there to help their country.”
