Araghchi: New US sanctions will have a negative impact on the negotiation process
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned Washington’s latest sanctions on Tehran, which were imposed in parallel with the ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States, Mehr reports.
According to the minister, the imposition of sanctions sends a negative message and casts doubt on Washington’s seriousness toward the negotiations.
“If the opposing sides engage in provocative actions during the negotiations, it can cast doubt on their sincerity,” Araghchi said during a meeting of the cabinet with journalists.
The diplomat noted that there are different opinions within the U.S. regarding the negotiations.
“We are aware of internal disagreements and active lobbying efforts in the U.S. We are closely monitoring all these developments and will make appropriate decisions,” the minister stated.
He recalled that the next round of negotiations will take place on May 3 in Rome, mediated by Oman. Before that, the Iranian side will meet with the countries of the European Quartet.
