The main issue for the West is not to ensure the security and prosperity of the South Caucasus in the long term, but to push Russia out of the region. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu at today’s meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CSTO member states in Minsk.

He cited the EU observation mission in Armenia as an example.

“An example of this is the so-called civilian mission of the European Union in Armenia, which, however, also includes military personnel and representatives of special services. I don’t think I need to explain what they actually do there. In this regard, we consider it necessary to continue working towards sending the CSTO mission to the region,” Shoigu said.
