The last mile of any marathon is always the hardest, but the United States is here to continue to help both of our friends cross the finish line: Blinken at peace negotiation closing session

The negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington are wrapped up. The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement at the closing session of the four-day talks. He thanked the two sides for holding the negotiations and said that if an agreement could be achieved, it would be historic.

“The two sides have made tangible progress on a durable peace agreement,” he said.

“I think the pace of the negotiations and the foundation that our colleagues have built shows that we really are within reach of an agreement. The last mile of any marathon is always the hardest; we know that. But the United States is here to continue to help both of our friends cross the finish line,” said the U.S. Secretary of State.
