Rosatom օffers Armenia various options for new nuclear power capacities

Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom has offered Armenia various combined options for the construction of new nuclear energy capacities, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev said.

“The issue of operating nuclear energy in Armenia after 2036 remains open. We have put forward various combined proposals involving low-capacity reactors, modular reactors, medium-capacity reactors and, of course, high-capacity gigawatt-class reactors,” he said.

According to Likhachev, Rosatom understands that “within the next decade, taking into account annual electricity consumption growth of 4–5%, additional demand in Armenia will reach exactly 1 GW of total capacity.”
