Iran says it attacked US Fifth Fleet headquarters; US carries out retaliatory strikes

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it launched an attack on the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, while the US military, in turn, says it has destroyed Iranian drones and missiles and carried out strikes on facilities located on Qeshm Island, ria.ru reports.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that American forces had conducted strikes on Qeshm Island “in self-defense.”

“US forces carried out self-defense strikes on Qeshm Island in response to Iran’s attempts to carry out attacks in the Middle East,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
