Levon Aronian finishes first in rapid chess event at Biel Chess Festival 2026

Levon Aronian has taken first place in the rapid chess event at the Biel Chess Festival 2026, the Chess Federation of Armenia reports.

The round-robin tournament is being held from July 12 to 23 in Biel, Switzerland.

The Masters group features six grandmasters: Levon Aronian, Lê Quang Liêm, Aydin Suleymanli, Matthias Bluebaum, Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, and José Eduardo Martínez Alcántara.

The participants will compete in rapid, classical, and blitz chess formats, with the overall winner determined by the combined results of all three tournaments.
