US has used 80% of THAAD missile interceptors in war with Iran, CNN reports

The bulk of the US military’s missile inventory has been significantly depleted during the five-month war with Iran, with military officials warning that the decline could affect the country’s readiness for future conflicts, CNN reports, citing sources familiar with internal Pentagon assessments.

According to the outlet, the United States has used nearly 80% of its pre-war stockpile of THAAD missile interceptors and around half of its Patriot missiles. Air defense supplies have suffered the sharpest decline.

CNN’s sources said this was at least the second time in recent weeks that military officials had warned the president about the rapid depletion of weapons stockpiles.
