Trump promised $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans retain control of Congress

President Donald Trump pledged Wednesday to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections, BBC writes.
Trump made this statement during a speech at the Republican Party convention in Dallas, Texas.”

‘’If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000,” Trump said.

He likened the payments to a corporation’s distributions to shareholders, citing “our tremendous strength and success economically.”
“The only restriction is that the dividends must be spent in the U.S. We don’t want you to go to Canada and spend the money there. We don’t want you to go to China, to Germany… You have to spend the money in the U.S.,” he said.

Trump made the proposal at his Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention, but it was not immediately clear how the payments would work or whether they would be legal.
