Macron to convene French party leaders to discuss security threats

French President Emmanuel Macron will hold a meeting on Friday with leaders of parties represented in parliament to discuss international conflicts and their implications for the country’s security and energy sectors.

According to Le Figaro, the meeting will take place at the Elysee Palace with the participation of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, representatives of the military leadership, and intelligence services.

“Against the backdrop of the rapidly deteriorating international situation in recent days, the President of the Republic has invited the leaders of parties represented in parliament to a meeting regarding the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine and their consequences for France in terms of security and energy,” the Elysee Palace stated..

Only one representative from each invited political group—either the party leader or a presidential election candidate—may attend. Senate President Gérard Larcher and National Assembly President Yaël Braun-Pivet have also been invited to the meeting.

Earlier this week, the French President held talks with the Prime Minister of Iraq, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and the Emir of Qatar. Today, Macron is hosting the King of Jordan and the President of Lebanon in Paris.
