Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan discuss normalization of relations and opening of transport infrastructure

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, met in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss the normalization of relations between the two countries and the opening of economic infrastructure.

“The ministers emphasized the importance of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and reviewed the progress made following the agreements reached at the 2025 Washington peace summit. Particular attention was paid to the opening of economic and transport infrastructure between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated.

In this context, trade and transit links between Armenia and Azerbaijan were highlighted as practical examples of the benefits of peace.

“The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to advance a positive agenda across various multilateral platforms. They agreed to continue direct dialogue,” the ministry noted.
