Emmanuel Macron has banned the French from protesting

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a ban on demonstrations in the coming days, except for rallies organized by trade unions.

Macron made the announcement following a meeting with cabinet members, BTM reports.

He said the government’s policy for the coming days, particularly October 24, would involve banning calls for gatherings issued by individuals “who have no legal basis to do so.”

“We will ban them wherever possible. However, requests submitted by trade unions will be reviewed by prefects, who may propose alternative routes to protect city centers, businesses, and public buildings,” he added.

Earlier today, upon returning to France after a three-day trip, Macron convened a meeting at the Élysée Palace with law enforcement and intelligence officials.
