Von der Leyen expresses concern over strike on vessel carrying Azerbaijani and Ukrainian crew

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has expressed concern over a strike on a civilian vessel carrying Azerbaijani and Ukrainian crew off the coast of Romania in the Black Sea.

Von der Leyen made the statement in a post on her social media account on X.

“Deeply alarmed by yet another Russian escalation in the Black Sea. A civilian vessel carrying Ukrainian and Azerbaijani crew has been struck off the coast of Romania.These reckless attacks target innocent lives and openly defy international law,” von der Leyen said.

She also thanked the rescue teams working tirelessly to search for those still missing.
